Open call: stuur je voorstel in voor Lichtkunstfestival Winterlicht 2024

Op 12, 13 en 14 december 2024 vindt het Lichtkunstfestival Winterlicht plaats in het Julianapark in Schiedam. Dit driedaagse, gratis toegankelijke lichtkunstfestival toont het werk van tien tot twintig kunstenaars van allerlei leeftijden en ervaring.

Het thema van dit jaar is Rituelen. Rituelen bieden houvast in deze wereld en zijn verbindend tussen mensen. Je kunt denken aan culturele of religieuze activiteiten, maar ook aan dagelijkse handelingen die het leven kenmerken.

Winterlicht nodigt kunstenaars nu uit om een voorstel rond dit thema in te zenden voor autonome lichtkunstwerken of -objecten, installaties, video en fotowerken. Ook een bestaand werk of performance rondom het thema Rituelen en licht is mogelijk.

Hoe zend je in?

Mail je voorstel met een beknopte beschrijving inclusief beeldimpressie en je portfolio naar info@winterlicht.nl. Vermeld ook een inschatting van je kosten en de technische specificaties (o.a. stroomverbruik) van je werk. Grote bestanden kunnen via wetransfer.com worden gedeeld. Zie verdere specificaties hieronder.

Deadline: 9 juni 2024

Maximaal twintig voorstellen worden geselecteerd. Het budget wordt in overleg vastgesteld, afhankelijk van het voorstel. Voor vergoeding volgt Winterlicht de richtlijn kunstenaarshonoraria.

Locatie

Het Julianapark is een openbaar, vrij toegankelijk stadspark. Onderdeel van het festival is ook een artiestenprogrammering met muziek, performances en (dicht)kunst. Aanwezigheid tijdens een of meerdere festivalavonden wordt bijzonder gewaardeerd.

Tijdsplanning

eind juli: bekendmaking selectie. Voor aanvullende fondsaanvragen zullen we eventueel extra documentatie van je werk en cv’s opvragen
september: locatiebezoek met alle geselecteerde kunstenaars
woensdag 11 december vanaf 09:00 uur t/m donderdag 12 december 16:00 uur: opbouw werken en technische doorloop
12, 13 en 14 december van 17:00 – 22:00 uur: festival
zaterdag 14 december 22:00 uur t/m zondag 15 december 17:00 uur: afbouw

Vergoeding

Er wordt afhankelijk van de aard van het werk (bestaand, leenvergoeding, nieuw werk) en de materiaalkosten vooraf een vergoeding afgesproken, waarbinnen je zelf de materiaalkosten dekt. Er kunnen in principe geen extra kosten gedeclareerd worden.

Specificaties

Je werk komt in een setting waar kou, regen en vorst te verwachten zijn. Daar moet je werk dus tegen kunnen. Houd ook rekening met de aanwezigheid van kinderen, honden en veel publiek. Buiten de openingstijden is nachtbewaking aanwezig.

Open call: submit your proposal for Winterlicht Light Art Festival 2024

The Winterlicht Light Art Festival will take place in the Julianapark in Schiedam on December 12, 13 and 14, 2024. This three-day, freely accessible light art festival shows the work of ten to twenty artists of all ages and experience.

This year’s theme is Rituals. Rituals provide guidance in this world and connect people. You can think of cultural or religious activities, but also of daily actions that characterize life.

Winterlicht now invites artists to submit a proposal, connected to this theme, for autonomous light artworks or objects, installations, video and photo works. An existing work or performance in the theme of Rituals and light is also possible.

Email your proposal with a brief description including visual impressions and your portfolio to info@winterlicht.nl. Also include an estimate of your costs and the technical specifications (including power consumption) of your work. Large files can be shared via wetransfer.com.

Deadline: June 9th 2024

A maximum of twenty proposals will be selected. The budget is determined in consultation, depending on the proposal. For compensation, Winterlicht follows the artist fees guideline. For more information and details, see below.

Location

The Juliana Park is a public, freely accessible city park. The festival also includes an artist program with music, performances and (poetry) art. Most artists attend during (some of the) festivalevenings, which is highly appreciated.

Timeline

Sunday June 9: closure of open call
end of July: selection announced. For additional fund applications, we will then request any additional documentation and CVs from your work
September: location visit with all selected artists
construction work and technical walkthrough: Wednesday, December 11 from 9:00 AM to Thursday, December 12 at 4:00 PM
festival: December 12, 13 and 14 from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
dismantling: Saturday, December 14, 10:00 PM to Sunday, December 15, 5:00 PM

Compensation

Depending on the nature of the work (existing, loan fee, new work) and the material costs, a fee is agreed in advance, within which you cover the material costs yourself. In principle, no additional costs can be claimed.

Specifications

Your work will be in a setting where cold, rain and frost are to be expected. So your work has to be able to withstand that. Also take into account the presence of children, dogs and large crowds. There is (night) security outside opening hours.
